Don’t Miss Adding This Golfers Dream Trip to Your Next Fundraiser

Review by Candace Zelmer

The Lajitas Golf Trip is the definition of luxury from start to finish. You have a feeling of grandeur the moment you step out of your car at Dallas Love Field Airport at the secure hanger parking. You will be greeted by complimentary valet service to get you to the private jet you will take to the resort.

Are you worried about having to lug around all of your golf clubs and luggage needed for this experience? Well, don’t! Once you arrive at the hanger, a luggage service will take all your luggage for you and you walk straight onto the plane.

The flight is quick and we were pleasantly surprised with the gourmet snacks and adult beverages they provided while en route.

The Lajitas Golf Resort

Nestled in the majestic mountains of the Big Ben State Park, The Lajitas Golf Resort is the perfect setting for an adventure full of natural beauty, rugged desert and Old West history!

The resort features the “Black Jack’s Crossing,” which is the world class 18 hole golf course designed by golf superstar Lanny Wadkins. You know they say, “Everything is bigger in Texas!” This is the truth on this large golf course with many challenging holes.

The Resort Amenities

Speaking of GOLF, it is the number one amenity at this resort! A General Lee statue welcomes you to the very well-maintained desert golf course. Number one course you can play in Texas by the Dallas Morning News and Golf Magazine calls Blackjack Crossing “The most beautiful course in Texas!” The course spans over 27,000 acres and is a magnificent sight.

The boutique resort offers a spa, zip lining, equestrian, hiking, clay shooting, and of course relaxing by the pool. The General store has all the necessities for your poolside retreat including coolers, beverages and great sandwiches. When you stop at the General Store don’t forget to meet the mayor of Lajitas, Clay Henry. Yes… he is a GOAT!

Resort Dining

The main dining area Candelilla has inside and patio seating all overlooking the well-maintained grounds and mountains with wildlife. Adjacent is the Thirsty Goat Saloon with live music, TV’s and a great bar selection. If you just want a quick bite you can stop in at the Boardwalk Bakery or Pizzeria!

Resort Rooms

There are a variety of different room types to choose from and I chose the Officer Quarters overlooking the golf course with outside patio seating. The resort itself is big, so be prepared to walk and there are no elevators.

The resort is made to look like an old western town secluded and relaxing. This is a perfect place if you are looking to enjoy gold and nature. The Historic Lajitas Trading Post dates back to the 1800’s with Lajitas meaning, “little flat rocks.” All the staff is very helpful and you are about 16 miles away from Terlingua. It is the closest ghost town you can go to explore and shop. Overall, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation getaway and I would definitely recommend this experience!
