Thank you so much to Will Leslie, the owner of Wardhill Castle. Kristen and I recently enjoyed a week at the castle with 14 friends, and we had the experience of a lifetime. Wardhill Castle is nestled in the sheep-filled green meadows of Scotland with the hills of the Highlands on the horizon. From the moment you arrive on the property you are immediately captured by the charm and authenticity of Scotland from generations ago. Our group enjoyed getting together in the mornings and the evenings in the Victorian era drawing room or the intimacy of the library under the watchful eyes of the Leslie family ancestors whose portraits were captured by accomplished artists.
There is so much to do at the castle itself from whisky tasting to high tea from a foraging tour to archery. We especially loved the nights we had a local chef, Rebecka Burns, prepare exquisite dinners with a local flair which were served in a beautiful dining room that accommodated all our guest at the very large and elegant dining room table. And each night we had dinner at the castle; we had Ross Mackenzie set the mood with his mastery of the bagpipes. Did I mention charming and authentic?
Luke Davidson, the estate manager, will take great care of you. Not only will he lead the foraging tour and whisky tasting with deep knowledge and expertise, but he can also help plan your excursions and other activities. Wardhill is near world-class golf courses, whisky distilleries, historic castles and outstanding restaurants and pubs. There is so much to do, but one piece of advice is do not over book your time. Enjoy the relaxation that is created by a castle that has been on this property for over 800 years. The essence of stability will help you remember that the worries of today are lost to the memories of time. And if you have trouble being that introspective, Luke will hire an amazing masseuse who will create the ultimate relaxation.
